New Synergies College of Fine Art
The Art Preservation Institute is proud to announce it's sponsorship of New Synergies College of Fine Art, a proposed unique non-profit college dedicated to the fundamentals of traditional, representational art and the training of artists to become skilled, professional, self-sustaining members of society.
Together we will make it happen.

Are Universities Failing Artists? In some ways yes, in other ways no. The biggest complaint heard from highly motivated first year art students is the lack of focus on art. The result of this is high drop-out rates. For those that continue, a common question when nearing graduation is "So what now?" This comes from the stark realization that they now must face the prospect of their art careers taking second place to their 'day job'. We believe artists should make art, not hamburgers. |

Education - Not Matriculation Colleges are tasked to provide entry-level students a well-rounded liberal arts education. This is important but it has a sort of 'doldrum effect' on students when they are forced to study subjects unrelated to their particular passion. This brings up a basic question: "Is the passion ancillary to the tools or are the tools ancillary to the passion?" Mostly this is about the order, timing and context of what is taught. Does education begin with matriculation or does it begin with the passion to learn? |

A Synergistic Approach Our goal is not to replace universities but to supplement their teachings and curricula. The primary emphasis is on art and earning a living in the art market. |

Accreditation Our goal is to acquire a small college that is already accredited by one of the national accrediting bodies. Students can thus transfer credits to a university when they decide to pursue their traditional degree program. |

Certificate Program Certificates are issued upon completion of our courses. These are university-level certificates. Students must complete 120 units to complete the course. The college will operate under the semester system. |

Sales, Marketing and Professional Practices In addition to high quality art courses, special emphasis is placed upon selling, marketing and professional practices. Any successful entrepreneur knows that selling skills are among the most important skills to develop. Selling is the productive end of the marketing plan and incorporates the learned professional practices, skills and passions of the artist. |
